An idea born out of a love of nature, dancing and creating playlists! Joining forces with my friend Clair from Clair Moves who told me about a movement in the UK called secret sunrise. I'm sharing this so if it resonates you can join us. Galvanizing a conscious movement of sun worshippers, where being present to the rhythms of nature makes us awake to its destruction so we can be warriors fighting to protect mother earth. If you live further a field and would like to get involved I have put a link to my playlist with guidelines you might like to follow.
We started the ceremony by creating a sacred medicine wheel altar with the four directions. Acknowledging that we are gathered on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skxwú7mesh (Squamish) & səlil̓wətaʔɬ sleigh watooth) Coast Sailish peoples. We blessed the earth feeling grateful to be on this beautiful abundant land.
We played the music on our headphones allowing us go inward. Sitting in silence to begin, hands on heart. Feeling grounded into the earth. Feel the creative life force flowing through your body, being present with breath and body. Abandon to the rhythm and move freely, dance as if no one's watching, it doesn't have to look pretty! I love to shake releasing stuck energy and emotion in the body. Energy that isn't serving, can you let go of sadness, anger, fear. With the space you have created, fill your body with joy and love!
To end we gather back into our sacred circle and sharing from our hearts and drinking a hot drink.
All donations of sacred sunrise go towards Sacred Earth Solar who are so aligned with everything I am fighting for. Violence against the Earth = Violence against Women. Sacred Earth Solar empowers front line Indigenous communities with renewable energy. Sacred Earth Solar also works with Tiny House Warriors in their fight against Trans Mountain Pipeline man camps. These work camps bring thousands of temporary workers to small communities, increasing violence against women, drug, and alcohol abuse to Indigenous communities. Here is a link to JOIN!
